Contours to Revit

Preliminary USGS 3DEP topography → Toposolid points & 3D DXF contours

Projects

Click a project to open it and zoom to it (hover to see where it is). Saving is manual — Save overwrites the open project, Save as new makes another. A project keeps the site, options, origin and north, layers and the whole site design, in this browser on this computer; use Save design for a file you can move.

      1SiteDraw a boundary

Drag a rectangle on the map over your site. Drag its corners to adjust.

Draw a site to detect the zone.

Buildings, roads, parcels (Arkansas) and FEMA flood zones come along automatically — choose what's included in the map's Layers panel.

        3Place in Revit

Origin: south-west corner of the site, rounded to 100.

In Revit, set Import units: Feet when linking the DXF (don't use Auto-Detect).

Generate the existing site first. The design starts from that surface — switch to Existing site, draw a boundary and click Generate.

        StartEnd Top (TW) Bottom (BW)

Start is where you began dragging. Leave End blank for a level top or bottom; different values make it slope. The high side is graded to TW, the low side to BW.

Pads, walls and slope runs stay editable: click one on the map (with a Slope, Wall or Pad tool) or in this list, change its numbers, or drag its handles. Del removes it.

          4Save & export

Your design also saves automatically in this browser for this site.

Same origin, project north, datum and project folder as the Existing site tab. In Revit, link the new DXF next to the existing one, or build a second Toposolid from the CSV and set its phase to New Construction.

          Water flow

Same as the Water flow button above the map. Streaks run downhill; circles mark low spots that would pond. Uses the proposed grade in Site design.

          Hosted map data

Parking lots, sidewalks and street surfaces come from OpenStreetMap data this site hosts for the states below (refreshed weekly). Elsewhere the app asks the public OpenStreetMap servers, which can be busy.

One-click updates on this computer (optional)

Without this, Update data opens the job on GitHub where you click Run workflow. To run it straight from here, create a fine-grained GitHub token for the AMRJacob/Contours-to-Revit repository with Actions: Read and write permission, and paste it below. It's stored only in this browser.

          Data refreshes automatically every week.

          Add / remove states (GitHub)

Add a state's name (e.g. oklahoma, new-mexico) on its own line, or delete a line to free the space. Saving rebuilds the data in a few minutes.

Preliminary only — not survey data. Bare-earth elevations are interpolated under buildings and trees. Elevations: USGS 3DEP, NAVD88.
